cobra 29 ltd no modulation output.

radio has good receive 5 watts on key up just no modulation output.had been working great but now it has me stumped.what has been tried all new caps check all tr transistors ,regulator, predriver driver final also replaced ic1 2 3 4 with new ones.mic gain rf gain pots checks fine.i tried a different mic two antennas.but still no luck.pa works good.you could say i been shot gunning this one .hope someone may have had this problem and solve it....would have junked this 96 model if not been so...

I was talking to a fellow radio operator and he mentioned being able to transmit and you could see where your signals went world wide and how strong they were. If this is truly possible how is it done?
Or is this guy just yanking my chain?

It will turn on BY ITSELF and squeal like a stuck pig, with the on/off switch off. The on/off volume control has no bearing on it, one can switch it on or off, and the radio stays on and squeals. It does stop of course if I unplug the power cord, and then will act normally, good Rx and Tx, up until it decides to squeal. Cobra 29 modulation adjustment.

I have a somewhat newer 29 ltd classic, 2011 model. Every post I've read about the modulation adjustment tells you to turn vr4 all the way up counter clockwise, problem is my radio has no VR4. Is RT4 the same as VR4 ? Any answers greatly appreciated.

I have an Optima MK3 that I ordered from coldfrontsales on 1-30-16. I opened it to change the mode, and nothing else was touched. I also drilled the hole over the mic, but other than that it hasn't been monkeyed with. This radio has been overhead in my truck for most of the time I've had it. I haven't really cared for it because it isn't that great on am, the buttons don't light up, and noise cancelling mics don't work well with it. I would keep it if I ever planned to setup a base, but...

Hey everyone

I'm trying to modify a new radio. It's a Midland 77-883 AM only radio. PCB is marked as PC-152AC. It has an 858 PLL which I was really looking forward to modding until I ran into a few issues. Perhaps they're not really issues as much as confusion on my part.

I own a rental property on Staten Island. I'm currently renting to family members. I stayed there on the weekend of the snowfall. HyGain P-500 will be mounted above the beam

Assembling the Maco 103C and mounting it Horizontal this next week..

It is said (and obviously true) that this will not work as well as a vertical mounted beam in a LOCAL vertical environment.

My question is, how does one define local?
Obviously 5 miles away a station would be considered local.
Same with someone 15 miles away.
But there are many towns that surround us in a 35 mile radius.
There are even more in a 60 mile...

Somebody Buy one quick, and do a review,and a few on air test with other mics too.I found it on Bells web site and when The page opens at the top it says RF Limited Microphone. Don't know, this might be a mistake.
