Hi,

Anybody have the correct wiring to hook upto a Uniden Washington please?

According to spec sheet. Output cord to to rig =

RED = TX GROUND
GREEN = SPEAKER OR RX GROUND
SHIELD = GROUND (NEG)
YELLOW = PROCESSOR AUDIO (PROCESSOR POWER ON), MICROPHONE AUDIO (PROCESSOR POWER OFF)
WHITE = RX AUDIO (FOR HANDSET OPERATION)
BLUE = SPARE (ALTERNATE PROCESSOR DC POWER AND 12 VOLTS DC)

Im using an external 12V source to power processor. Processor has 6 pin mic input socket.

For nothing on tv, I watched a few episodes of WICKED TUNA, enough of tuna fishing.
What caught my eye were the boat captains talking to each other, they were using 2 meters 145.00 for communications, sad state of affairs.

Antenna warning light no matter what I do.

I have a cobra 29 with high watt mod. (1989 yr model). Had it all checked out yesterday. Was good to go. Put it in my 379 pete with single k40 on pass side mirror. Got a Bright red antenna warning light. Changed coax. Still antenna warning. New antenna bracket and adjust antenna. Still warning light. Weird thing is if some stands on pass step and touches the mirror bracket when I key up. No warning light. So I tried grounding the mirror bracket to cab. This didn't fix it either. Even...

I have two and one was lightly used as a base for a month then was put back in box when I got a base radio. Been in original box in storage for a year. Should work fine but I will pull out and test for RX and TX before shipping. Pretty sure this was a V2 or V3 I'll have to check.

I'll open the box tonight to verify all original parts and pieces are inside but everything should be there.

$220 shipped UPS with insurance.

148 gtl keys up but no transmit.

Hey guys, This is my first post in here.
I have an older (March 89) cobra 148 gtl. I've been having problems with it and I'm hoping I can get some help here. When I first aquired this radio it turned on with no transmit and no recive. After messig with it for a while I found the cb pa switch was bad. If you wiggle it around it will revive just fine but, when I try to transmit the radio keys up and the light switches but there is no audio being transmitted. The radio does break the squelch...

148 gtl keys up but no transmit.

Any aftermarket solutions for new Cobra 2000 frequency counter?

I have a cobra 2000 that is missing the internal module. Everything else (on the face is present).

Has anyone ever successfully retro-fitted an aftermarket frequency counter into the face of a Cobra 2000, as has been done on other radios? I know that buying the internal frequency counter module (box) would be near impossible and very expensive. I'm just looking for a way to get around having to have an external counter,

In the springtime of 2015 I asked members what would be a good true pep reading meter to purchase. I specifically asked about the MFJ 828. I was warned about this meter & MFJ equipment in general. I didn't listen and got a $225 paperweight. If you're considering one of these take it from someone who learned the hard way and don't buy it! Even after returning it for repair under warranty , it came back exactly the same way as it was sent. View attachment 19986

Maco 103C vs a V-Quad

Why would anyone want a Maco 103C over a Maco V-Quad?
Same performance, but the V quad is half the size, much less wind-load and only weights 8 lbs.


Boom: 6 feet vs 11.5
SWR: 1.1 vs 1.5
Longest element: 12 vs 19

Yet, the V-Quad has the same gain and rejection.

Already ordered the Maco 103C, but now I am wondering if I made the best choice for my needs.

For those that have not made the leap, you might look at the V-Quad and see how it stacks up.

Everyone recommends the Maco 103C so...

Swing Kit Vs. NPC (ept3600)

It depends on the pc board in question, on a DX66V (ept360014) a swing kit is 1N4001 diode added in series with R238, sometimes hackshops just remove the resistor and install a diode in place of R238, then they cut the AMC resistor. (n)
This allows the radio to swing to near max p.e.p. from any dead key, it looks rough on the scope.

Best groundplane ???

Who makes the best ground-plane for the money. Been looking at the maco v58, the Sirio Tornado, and the Hy gain Super Penetrator. Any other antenna out there better for the money? 150 or less. Will get it up about 30 feet at the mount. What do you guys think.

Are Philippine radios special?

I've always read that radios built in the Philippines are a little better, and have a better sound than other radios. How true is this? I just came across a uniden pc66xl in my shop that was made in the Philippines. Just wondering if it's worth getting it repaired.

So I went to look at a Moonraker 4 today, turns out the old guy was selling his whole station. I bought his mint condition DAC 10, and all his equipment. I don't anything about them but WOW what a nice looking radio. What should I know about this rig, I've never owned a radio with tubes in it before

Going to sell my Optima MK3 . I bought the Radio Dec 2015 so I have had it for a year. I always use external speakers on my Mobil radios, This radio was used as a base on a power supply and was never mobil. I was moving so equipment around and reached around the back of the radio and plugged the speaker back into the Jack. and I guess I didn't push it in correctly and broke the plastic jack on the back of the radio. I opened the radio and saw that its connected to the board and Plastic....

2970N2 project

Hi I bought a project N2 with no amp. I didn't get all wiring for the CPU and need to know what jumper wire(s) I will need to complete the hookup.
I see on schematic where they go but the J10 one has me confused like it showing going to the mic board from J10 then to CPU?
Is that jumper wire like 3 or 4 jumpers on it?
I'm also going to try to use it as a 2950dx since no amp and it does have the dual finals in it?
Also need to know what hooks to the open connectors cn604-605 on CPU?

If he can make good on any of his promises, I will be amazed.
Let's see how this plays out. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing model airplane glue.
