Ferrite Transformers, Core Material Type for 28 Mhz operation (43 or 61)?
Inside the common "2879 class-c box" cb amplifiers, what is the 'preferred' material used for the transformers, type 43 or type 61? I'm considering a (x2) 2SC2879, 28-30Mhz non-linear amplifier that would be used for 10 Meters CW.

QYT KT-8900D Dual Band Mini Radio
I ordered one of these today from eBay. It's the Gen 2 version and the price is under $100 including the programming cable and software CD. Anyone else have one? I just wanted something to monitor the local not so busy repeaters and to play around with. I may take my aging Kenwood dual bander out of the truck for the winter and Velcro this one in there somewhere. It's small enough.

Tuning SWR with high output
Howdy all. New member here, and glad to be here. I'm having a problem I'm hoping someone can help me out with.
Ive always been into CB, but recently got a Galaxy DX94HP with 150 watt output. My SWR is about a 1.0 all around. But when I turn the power knob up at all my SWR climbes with it. Simple question, Is that normal? Do I have to tune my antenna to a 0 to use any power at all?

Malaysia Cobra 148 GTL, no TX on ssb
Thanks in advance for reading, and hopefully making some suggestions. I believe the radio is a 1995 year or close to it, with a EPT014810Z board. On side band, (both usb and lsb) it does not swing the meter needle on the radio, nor does it produce any needle swing on the swr/power meter (Radio Shack 21-534) with a loud voice or whistle. In AM mode, there is needle swing on the CB, and on the swr/power meter, AM seems to work as it should. The TX light does change when the mike is keyed...

Looking for info on this radio. Anyone have the newest version of the Optima?
All of the videos I found are the MK2 or older. I also looked for threads on this forum and only found info on the MK2 or older version.
According to the website the radio has been improved from the previous MK2 version.

RM Station 550
I have an RM station 550 no KLV on it that sounds horrible on sideband but clean on AM i tried this fix but can not seem to make it sound good on SSB any ideas? This amp does not have R29 and 30 side by side. here is a photo of the amp and 2 scope snaps of modulation with the amp off and on. Any help would great. Thanks

Any aftermarket solutions for new Cobra 2000 frequency counter?
I have a cobra 2000 that is missing the internal module. Everything else (on the face is present).
Has anyone ever successfully retro-fitted an aftermarket frequency counter into the face of a Cobra 2000, as has been done on other radios? I know that buying the internal frequency counter module (box) would be near impossible and very expensive. I'm just looking for a way to get around having to have an external counter,

cobra 29 ltd no modulation output.
radio has good receive 5 watts on key up just no modulation output.had been working great but now it has me stumped.what has been tried all new caps check all tr transistors ,regulator, predriver driver final also replaced ic1 2 3 4 with new ones.mic gain rf gain pots checks fine.i tried a different mic two antennas.but still no luck.pa works good.you could say i been shot gunning this one .hope someone may have had this problem and solve it....would have junked this 96 model if not been so...

Rm Italy KL-503 watts vs amps
Looking at this amp, it appears the max output SSB is 450w but the max amp draw is only 30 amps. That seems awfully low. Is the 30 amp max draw incorrect?
The other thing that seems low is the input power rating of 12 watts. Is that the max you can drive into this amp?

What's this old K40 worth?
Hi All.
I have a K40 with a mag mount that's at least 30 years old. I just replaced the 57 inch whip with a new one because I couldn't find the old one after 3 long distance moves. I should have just sold that without the whip as is (easier to ship) but I wanted to fiddle around with an old radio.
The place that sold me the whip said a new K40 with mag mount would cost close to $150. I did some searching and the best I can tell it's less than that and the mag mount sold today looks...
