Ok just got a end fed antenna for my FT-450d. My question is how do I set this up it has one insulater on end. A box that the coax screws into.

Any help much appreciated..

hello and thanks for looking, the switch went bad on my ranger sdm 1000 and i can't find one.if you have a sdm 1000 microphone you would sell let me know,mine was my favorite mic. and i used it every day,so if you can help me out i would pay a fair price. i also would like a ranger ac 7000 microphone, i had to sell it a few years ago when my family fell on hard times. thanks again and happy DXing.

For nothing on tv, I watched a few episodes of WICKED TUNA, enough of tuna fishing.
What caught my eye were the boat captains talking to each other, they were using 2 meters 145.00 for communications, sad state of affairs.

Short doublets and linear loading

Assiming there is no tuner or feedline loss would linear loading a short doublet antenna increase performance?

My doublet it 68 feet long. It is used on 80 through 20 meters. Would linear loading make any improvement in performance on 80?

Another concern is moving the current maximums lower to the ground on the higher bands or causing RFI.

Any input or comments?

Browning Golden Eagle no Keyup.

I just got a Golden Eagle and I have no key up on transmitter, checked tubes, Microphone and do not see anything burnt or fried. It has a 110VDC relay but I do not know how to test it have no 110vdc supply. Any ideas on what to look for?? Thanks Jimbo

Any one happen to have a SM for a eagle 5000? I think it is the same as a galaxy saturn turbo and rebranded for copper electronics but not positive. Thanks.

Got a good buy on this radio (or so I thought). I knew the final had a bad rep, and sure enough, I received the radio, and no tx. Pulled the final, and it tested bad.
I sourced two replacements, threw one in, and I had tx. 3 swingin to around 6 on a.m. everything seemed fine. Flipped to lsb, keyed the mic, and got alot of static through the talkback on the ext.speaker. Gave it a aauuudddio and poof...nothin. Back to no tx.
Pulled the final, and it tested good. For the hell of it, I tried...

Very nice, working condition Siltronix 1011B. 70's 10m tube rig. Has not been converted for 11m transmit. Full power 100w output, comes with stock hand mic and operating manual. Radio is in very nice shape with only a few scratches on the face. $150 shipped lower 48

Hey all, FNG here just getting back into the radio scene after a 30+ year hiatus. I am military and of course looking to prep for when the SHTF. I have scene some cool setups and now looking into getting a solar panel setup for a manpack style kit. I hope to glean some knowledge from you all and hope I never have to use it, but better prep'd than sorry. Thanks in advance.

High SWR's, trouble with carrier on amp

I picked up a Fatboy 1x4 amp with a variable on the front. The amp is working great putting about close to 800 watts when all the way open. However I'm have an issue adjusting the dead key either with the amp's variable or from the radio. The dead key is stable up to about 75 watts with 1.3 SWR's. However once I turn it up any higher it will jump from a 75 watt dead key to a 200 watt dead key. The SWR's will go over 3. I want the dead key to be around 100, but I just can't do it. I can't do...
