I was recently looking at mobile linears for a CB on Ebay and saw a RM Italy brand. It's only a 100watt but was rather inexpensive. Has anyone heard of these? Are they any good?

Varmint XL-1000, Smoked Transformers?
I recently picked up this Varmint XL-1000 amplifier, the transformers are covered in a tar like substance, I hope it's not the varnish from the windings!
I even see some wires coated with this gunk/tar!
Have you ever seen this kind of gunk before?
What do you think?
I'm going to try to disconnect a few things and I've got put a fuse in it to eventually see if I can measure some taps or Ohm out some windings.
It's got some nice n' heavy iron in there, just...

President AR144 no tx rx
Ok so the radio powers on but that's it. No carrier on am, nothing on ssb and no receive. I did notice that when keying the mic the tx/rx light doesn't turn red. It just goes out. Also the radio did die on me and then came back to life on its own. The channel display and meter light went out for a few seconds but came back. I'm thinking the tx/rx relay circuit isn't switching? Then I thought maybe the voltage regulator is going? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Expo 100 expander channel kits info needed
I'm looking for the Expo channel expander kit crystal codes that are on the Xtals.
I have an A Kit with 2 xtals 1 has a T and the other a J on xtals nothing else.
Other kit is a Expo S+ and it has S X on xtal only single xtal on this board.
I know what radios these are for but seems when made they coded the xtals and did not put the frequency of said xtal on them.
Would anyone know the code to the xtals that was used for all the Expo 100 kits

Scary Snake Radio "Setting Up" President Lincoln II V3
Why would anyone send him a new radio and want him to have a poke around inside? I do not have a problem with the guy working on CB's but you have to know your limits. I can not see him doing any wonderful magic to this or even knowing the subtle tuning issues on audio that this radio can benefit from. Most of this radio is surface mount. I have no seen a SMD rework station onhis bench. In fact I have never seen him use flux on anything on his bench...

Just snagged a PC-122 Taiwan made recently for 50 bucks.
Went to Handy Andy's site on these radios (He has a HUGE write-up of mods for this radio, he's the GURU of the 122) and performed some of the mods, but I'm curious, are there any updates or new mods on this board these days? Any new info I should look into? Thank you in advance!

Palomar 300a Transformer hum
I picked up a Palomar 300a not working it is a amp with transformer in separate box. I replaced Keying transistors and amp was working but on just key up in power operate mode transformer has a hum. I replaced all capacitors and power rectifier diodes but on key up in power operate mode still has hum. It has no hum when just power on . I have used amp over 6 hrs so far and it works like it should on output and transformer does not get hot or smoked yet. Is transformer going bad or is this...

Maco Comet Antenna
Is the Maco Comet a better option than the Maco M103HV for 11 meters?
I wanting to use the vertical side for in my state base to base or base to mobile contacts and the horizontal side for out of state and or DX or even someone in my state running horizontal a yagi as well.
The price point for the 2 is very close.
I notice the Comet has a better front to back ratio than the M103HV.
The gain is somewhat similar although I never believe any gain figure or multiplication factor from a 11 meter...

A Better Option Than DCA55
I’ve got the Atlas DCA55 to test transistors, I’m not too impressed with it, not for the price. It’s not terribly expensive but it’s not cheap either.
I’ve found it to be a huge liar, maybe I got a dud, I don’t know, maybe I just don’t know how to use it either.
Recently, testing the first IF amp in a receiver, this thing shows the transistor as being good. The part is a 2SC1674 but the receive is very weak, basically not even there. Lifting the collector, you can faintly hear the tone...

Old SBE Console II 23 channel, freq. expansion
Hello, first post, I have 2 mint SBE radios I picked up about 10 years ago, both work fine. Was wondering if there is a way to get channels 24-40 or at least 35-40? I had this same radio as a teenager and it had a button on the rear that allowed more channels and had the clairifier opened. I can’t seem to find any techs that can do this work so perhaps this is just not possible anymore. Thanks

Baofeng UV5R+ & Fusion
I have a repeater programmed into my UV5R+ that has Fusion and analog. When someone is using the Fusion side, all I hear is digital noise. Is there a way to eliminate this ? On my 2900r I use tone squelch and this works , but I don't see that in the UV5R's menu.

Turkey shoot tomorrow at local V F W hall near me
Got my winchester 1300,20 guage out n cleaned her up n grandads L.C.Smith double 12 with custom ordered 48" barrels and wifes stoeger double 20 also.
I will shoot trap with my winchester,but splatter board with the smith.i usually tear the splatter board up if i use the left tube.at splatter board range its about a 10 inch pattern.
I enjoy turkey shoots,meet friends support vfw n get winters meat .
